Data Technician

Duke's is now looking for a Data Technician to join our team at our Plymouth, MI regional office!

Our Data Technicians support Duke’s data operations by performing data processing, data management, and geospatial tasks that ensure accurate, reliable, and well-governed data across the organization and to our clients. This role contributes to data quality, workflow efficiency, and continuous improvement by executing standardized processes, supporting automation and analytics initiatives, and collaborating with regional and enterprise teams to meet business needs. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with data systems, solving technical challenges, and who is looking to grow their career in the world of data and the underground infrastructure!

This is an onsite position, not remote or hybrid.

What you will do:

  • Perform data processing, validation, and quality assurance to maintain accurate and reliable operational records
  • Prepare, clean, and organize datasets for reporting and analysis
  • Complete geospatial data processing and mapping tasks using GIS tools and related systems
  • Support data governance standards, documentation requirements, and audit processes
  • Assist in developing and maintaining automated workflows and data pipelines
  • Identify inconsistencies, trends, or process gaps and collaborate on corrective actions
  • Partner with regional and enterprise teams to support reporting and operational initiatives
  • Contribute to ongoing efforts that enhance data quality and workflow efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $20-28/hr, depending on experience

  • Have a bachelor's degree in data science, information systems, computer science, GIS, or a related field preferred; education, training, and exprinece will be considered.
  • Have a mind and a passion for data with at least 2 - 3 years of experience in data processing, data management, geospatial analysis, or related technical roles
  • Have working knowledge of data processing, data management, and quality assurance principles
  • Have strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including common data tools and platforms (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL, databases, and related systems)
  • Are familiar with geospatial data concepts and GIS tools
  • Have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Will follow established standards while adapting to evolving processes and technologies
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Are able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Have attention to detail with commitment to data accuracy and consistency
