Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator with proven experience in managing and optimizing a company's Snowflake data platform, covering responsibilities such as performance tuning, security, data management, cost optimization, user access control, disaster recovery, and automation. Key duties of the position include designing and implementing database structures, monitoring for performance issues, managing security policies, supporting data pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and availability within the cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Platform Management: Configure and maintain the Snowflake environment, including virtual warehouses, databases, and storage.
  • Performance & Optimization: Monitor database performance, tune queries, and optimize resource usage for cost-efficiency and scalability.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and manage security measures, including data encryption, access controls, and network policies, to ensure compliance.
  • Data Operations: Manage data loading, transformation, extraction (ETL/ELT) processes, and data governance.
  • User & Access Management: Create and manage user accounts, roles, and privileges to ensure secure and appropriate access to data assets.
  • Disaster Recovery: Plan, execute, and test disaster recovery strategies and data retention policies.
  • Automation: Develop and implement automation for production deployments and routine database tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work with data engineers, analysts, and IT teams to provide solutions, support data-related activities, and integrate Snowflake with other tools.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor database availability, performance, and query logs, and provide support to resolve issues.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Snowflake Expertise: Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, features, and best practices.
  • SQL Proficiency: Deep knowledge of SQL for querying, data management, and performance tuning.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS) and cloud cost management.
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash and experience with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Data Security: Knowledge of data security, encryption, access controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
