Datacenter Mechanical Engineer

About The Role

The Datacenter Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of the data center’s cooling infrastructure. This includes designing new systems, overseeing installation, optimizing existing plant performance, and ensuring the mechanical systems scale reliably to support high-density IT loads.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our core Infrastructure Engineering team.

Location: İstanbul and Ankara

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering: Lead the mechanical design and specification of critical cooling systems, including Chilled Water Systems, Direct Expansion (DX) units, Air Handling Units (AHUs), humidification, ventilation, and plumbing systems.
• Optimization & Efficiency: Conduct thermal modeling and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis to identify and implement efficiency improvements, focusing on reducing PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) related to cooling.
• Project Management: Review mechanical construction documents (drawings, specifications, submittals) and manage vendor/contractor activities during the commissioning and construction phases of new data center builds or retrofits.
• Troubleshooting: Provide advanced technical support for complex mechanical system failures and operational issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Standards & Compliance: Develop and maintain mechanical standards, specifications, and operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
• Capacity Planning: Collaborate with Planning teams to forecast cooling capacity needs based on IT load projections and thermal management strategies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, construction, commissioning, or operation of large-scale, mission-critical mechanical systems (preferably in data centers, clean rooms, or similar high-reliability facilities).
• Deep technical expertise in HVAC systems, chilled water plants, cooling towers, and related hydronics.
• Proficiency with industry-standard design tools and simulation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, CFD modeling tools).
• Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards and energy conservation measures within a data center context.
• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) License or equivalent certification.
• Experience with advanced control systems (BMS/BAS) integration and optimization.
• Proven experience in sustainable design practices and alternative cooling technologies (e.g., free cooling, adiabatic cooling).
• Experience with high-density cooling solutions (e.g., in-row cooling, liquid cooling).
