Server Support Technician – Datacenter Operations (Overnight Shift)

Location: On-site in Dallas, TX
Schedule: Full-time, overnight shifts with weekend availability required

What You’ll Do

As a Server Support Technician, you’ll be part of the front-line team responsible for maintaining the uptime and performance of our servers, network switches, and power systems. You’ll triage issues using our proprietary ticketing system and ensure that every server is physically sound, properly connected, and ready to serve.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provisioning new dedicated and cloud servers with basic OS installs (Linux/Windows)
• Diagnosing and repairing server hardware (motherboards, CPUs, drives, memory, etc.)
• Performing racking, de-racking, and physical maintenance of servers
• Monitoring and supporting network infrastructure (basic switch config and cabling)
• Ensuring power systems are stable and properly connected to all active hardware
• Responding to support tickets within a 10-minute SLA window
• Executing hardware upgrades and replacements as needed
• Maintaining clear documentation and organized workflows
• Supporting logistical tasks such as inventory tracking and order prep

What We’re Looking For

This role is best suited for candidates who enjoy working with physical as well as remote infrastructure and solving practical problems. While some familiarity with software and operating systems is helpful, our focus is on hardware, network, and power—not advanced software configuration or cybersecurity.

Required Skills:

• Comfortable working overnight, including weekends
• Strong troubleshooting skills for physical server components
• Familiarity with basic OS installation and configuration (Linux/Windows)
• Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, switch port config, cabling)
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tickets simultaneously
• Clear communication and documentation skills
• Willingness to work in a physical datacenter environment (lifting, racking, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with enterprise-grade server hardware (Dell, Supermicro, HP, etc.)
• Familiarity with Cisco or Juniper switch configuration
• Basic understanding of control panels (cPanel, Plesk) and virtualization (VMware ESXi)
• Experience using ticketing systems for technical support

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• 1–2 years of experience in datacenter, server hardware, or system administration (preferred)
• Certifications such as A+, Network+, RHCE, or MCSA are a plus but not required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs occasionally and assist with heavier equipment as part of a team
• Regular racking and de-racking of servers and network switches
• Comfortable working in a datacenter environment for extended periods

Pay: $39,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
