Camp Logistics Director – Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp
Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp is a Young Judaea Hebrew dual-language program nestled in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We serve a diverse community of campers entering Pre-K through 5th grade, and no Hebrew background is needed to be part of what we're building here.
Our camp brings kids together from all kinds of families and backgrounds, united by shared Jewish values, an appreciation for the Hebrew language, and a growing connection to Israel. We build our staff the same way — with people who show up with a positive attitude, roll up their sleeves, and never wait to be asked twice. If you're the kind of person who sees what needs to get done and does it, you'll fit right in here.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a Camp Logistics Director to join our Senior Leadership team. This role is the engine behind our daily operations — particularly everything related to getting campers to and from camp safely and on time. We need someone who is detail-oriented, level-headed, and genuinely thrives when juggling multiple moving parts. If you're excited by the idea of doing important, behind-the-scenes work as part of a warm and dedicated team, this role is for you.
Pay & Schedule
Compensation is $6,500–$7,000 for the summer. The position includes approximately 50 flexible pre-camp hours in the spring, including Camper Orientation. Mandatory staff training is June 14–18, and camp runs Monday–Friday from June 22 through August 14. Typical daily hours are approximately 7:15am–5pm.
Core Responsibilities
Transportation management is the backbone of this position. You'll build and maintain bus routes, handle logistics for field trip transportation, and act as the camp's main point of contact with the bus company. Before each session, you'll distribute updated route information and offer feedback on drivers and routes as situations arise. Attendance and daily travel records will be kept up to date in the camp database, informed by ongoing communication with families.
You'll also directly manage bus counselors — assigning them to routes, monitoring their attendance, and keeping them informed with daily ridership updates. When parents have questions about timing, route changes, or travel adjustments, you'll be their go-to resource.
On the administrative side, you'll assist with organizing camper and staff paperwork, and pitch in and out of camp office with various logistics tasks and day to day operations.
As a Senior Leadership team member, you'll play an active role in shaping the overall camp experience, support emergency response when needed, and be ready to step in and cover a group or activity area if staffing requires it. Participation in all-camp programming is part of the job.
What You Bring
A Bachelor's degree is required. You should have hands-on administrative experience, a sharp eye for detail, and confidence with technology — specifically Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and a willingness to learn our camp CRM. You communicate well in writing and in person, and you don't rattle easily when things get busy. Knowledge of Brooklyn's streets and neighborhoods is a real plus, as is experience with transportation logistics or routing. Prior experience with kids or teens is also a bonus.
