Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses and commercial vehicles to transport children between designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness.
• Maintain accurate records of routes, schedules, and passenger counts, ensuring punctuality and reliability.
• Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and staff regarding transportation schedules or any concerns.
• Enforce behavior management policies onboard to promote respectful and safe conduct among children.
• Assist with loading and unloading children, ensuring proper child safety seats are used when necessary.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, coordinating with emergency responders if required.

Skills

• Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving with a clean driving record.
• Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities.
• Knowledge of paratransit operations or senior care transportation is advantageous.
• Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with children or in childcare settings, demonstrating patience and nurturing qualities.
• Excellent customer service skills to foster positive relationships with parents and guardians.
• Ability to manage behavior effectively through clear communication and positive reinforcement strategies.
