Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Daycare Director to lead our early childhood education center with enthusiasm and dedication. In this vital role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children, and foster a positive team culture. Your leadership will inspire staff, engage families, and promote developmental growth for every child in your care. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young lives while managing a dynamic childcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all aspects of daycare operations, including staff management, curriculum implementation, and compliance with licensing standards
- Develop and maintain engaging, developmentally appropriate programs for children across various age groups such as infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children with special needs
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children by enforcing health and safety policies, conducting regular inspections, and maintaining accurate records
- Recruit, train, and support staff members to deliver high-quality care and education while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on their child's progress, address concerns, and promote family engagement
- Manage classroom environments to support positive behavior management, classroom management strategies, and individualized care plans
- You will be responsible for opening the school each day at 6:50am. This includes opening and unlocking all classrooms, making sure teachers are present, signed in, and are prepared for the day.
- Implement the purchased curriculum and ensure it is being followed by individual teachers. Work closely with the center’s teachers and staff, creating learning plans or programs to meet state and federal requirements and parent’s expectations. Implement and encourage "fun" holiday activities and crafts for special days, and holidays.
- Oversee staff: Staff management is the most important, and time-consuming part of the position. You must interview, hire and train staff, making sure that all background and fingerprint checks have been conducted. You must ensure they have been trained in Bright from the Start rules and regulations, as well as Little Oaks' preschool's expectations.
- Manage facilities: You must make sure that the facility is safe and well-stocked (extra food, waters, craft, and laundry room supplies). That includes checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards and ensuring the facility is always clean and orderly.
- Marketing the school: Helping to manage the social media accounts, and create a marketing plan to promote the facility and its services.
- Enrollment: Managing our waitlist online, calling families about enrollment, scheduling and giving tours to prospective families. You will need to work with the Assistant Director to help on-board the new families to Procare, and set up tuition payments.
- Manage all tuition plans; set up recurring billing and monitor weekly payments. Contact any parents who are late on payments.
- Meeting with parents and teachers: Meet with parents and teachers to keep parents up-to-date on their child’s development and progress, including discussing ways to address any learning or behavioral issues. Each classroom should be keeping monthly assessments for each child, and you will need to ensure these are being completed, and given to you.
- Work with Owner and the Assistant Director to plan, prepare, and execute all “fun activities”; Graduation, Field Day, Trunk-or-Treat, Teacher Appreciation, 5k, water days over the summer, etc.
- Oversee incident reports, watch camera footage, and communicate with parents as necessary per incident.
- Stay up to date on BFTS rules and regulations, and assure all rules are being followed in classrooms.
- Manage classroom ratios and moving kids if needed; stepping in for lunch breaks when needed. Ideally, we have enough floaters each day where you will not need to be in a classroom for lunch breaks, but it does happen occasionally on days when we have a few people call out.
- Monitor GroupMe messages for school/staff needs, and tend to teacher requests as needed with help of Assistant Director
- You will give new staff orientation, and ensure we have all necessary employment paperwork before a new staff member is allowed to start with us. The Assistant Director will then ensure they are signed up for necessary trainings each year. You will need to oversee, and ensure all staff are qualified per BFTS regulations, and completing their required 10 hours of training each year. We have built-in staff training days during the year to ensure staff are completing these trainings.
- Make weekly schedules for staff. You will manage all PTO and time off requests, and make the schedule the previous weeks, so we know when we need to schedule a substitute.
- You will need to check the time-card on Procare bi-weekly, ensure there are no days when staff forgot to sign in/sign out, make sure everyone appropriately clocked their lunch breaks, and add PTO. Then you will send to Owner to run payroll.
- Oversee Assistant Director, and help with her duties when needed.
- Weekly check-in meetings with Owner and Assistant Director.
