Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Daycare Nutrition Director/Cook to lead our dietary department and ensure the delivery of nutritious, appealing meals for our young learners. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement nutritious, age-appropriate menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and licensing requirements
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals that meet quality standards, emphasizing fresh ingredients and appealing presentation
- Manage all aspects of food handling, storage, sanitation, and safety to ensure compliance with health regulations
- Supervise dietary aide staff, providing guidance on food preparation techniques and proper food service procedures
- Maintain accurate records of meal counts, food production records, dietary restrictions, and inventory levels for efficient kitchen operations
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary needs and allergies while ensuring balanced nutrition
- Lead kitchen organization efforts, including cleaning schedules, equipment maintenance, and supply ordering
- Take Child and adult care food program classes- including food safety
- Maintain and organize kitchen supplies and food receipts.
- Order weekly groceries and pick up or have delivered
Experience
- Proven experience in dietary department roles within childcare or similar settings
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and menu planning with an emphasis on nutritious meals for children
- Prior dietary aide or kitchen experience in a food service environment such as restaurants or catering is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Familiarity with culinary techniques including knife skills and meal assembly
- Experience working in the food industry or fine dining environments is a plus
- Ability to coordinate meal service efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
