Morning Care Teacher (Part-Time) + SUB

Little Wild Ones Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Morning Care Teacher to provide a nurturing and engaging environment for children during our morning care program. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and enrichment of children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in a structured yet playful setting. The Morning Care Teacher will support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development while fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
This is a part-time position (approximately 10 hours per week) with the opportunity to substitute for additional hours as needed.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesChild Supervision & Safety:
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all children during morning care.
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities, ensuring their well-being at all times.
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures, including proper handwashing, sanitization, and incident reporting.
- Monitor and manage behavior using positive reinforcement and redirection strategies.
Activity Planning & Implementation:
- Lead structured and unstructured activities such as arts & crafts, storytelling, free play, outdoor play, and sensory exploration.
- Encourage cooperative play, creativity, and problem-solving among children.
- Assist children with transitions, breakfast/snacks, and restroom breaks as needed.
- Adapt activities to accommodate various developmental levels and individual needs.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate professionally with parents during drop-off, providing brief updates as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to maintain consistency in care and expectations.
- Report any concerns regarding a child’s behavior, health, or development to the Director or Lead Teacher.
Classroom Maintenance & Organization:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of morning care spaces.
- Ensure materials and toys are sanitized and stored properly.
- Assist with light cleanup, including wiping down tables, sweeping floors, and organizing materials.
Qualifications
- Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child development, positive behavior guidance, and age-appropriate activities.
- Ability to multitask, be flexible, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Reliable and open to substituting for additional shifts when available.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
