Daycare Worker/Lead Teacher

Welcome to the Little River Schoolhouse! This is a vibrant and dynamic space with a unique approach to care and learning:

Our Mission is to nurture each child’s growth through an outdoor-centered learning approach, nourished by organic and minimally processed meals – providing a safe, joyful, and inclusive environment where children can explore, thrive, create, and develop a lifelong curiosity.

We achieve the nutrition through freshly prepared meals daily that prioritize organic ingredients. We deliver the outdoor-centered learning through a half acre fenced yard that includes play spaces, a growing garden, and extra space to learn and explore. We also have a "hybrid" indoor/outdoor play and learning space for days with mixed weather, and finally dedicated indoor spaces that foster creative play and learning.

Our daycare operates out of a home, of which 90% of the space is dedicated to the daycare to maximize the experience for the children. Our enrolment is limited to 12 children and our age range for enrolment includes: infant to 5 years 11 months (6 yrs ends eligibility).

We operate Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. We observe the federal holiday schedule and offer two weeks of paid vacation annually.

We are seeking a Daycare Worker/Teacher, who shares in our passion for nurturing and educating young children through our approach. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that fosters early childhood development and learning. Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development for children in various age groups, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Provide attentive care to children’s basic needs, including feeding, diapering, nap times, and hygiene routines.
  • Foster a nurturing environment that encourages positive behavior management and social interaction among children.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom or play area in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent classroom management and effective educational practices.

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in daycare settings, preschools, babysitting, nannying or similar environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development milestones.
  • Experience with classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required ; additional training in special education or working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
  • Familiarity with infant care routines, toddler care strategies, and preschool curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and needs while maintaining patience and professionalism. Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
