Reports To: Decatur Central High School Principal and Director of Secondary Education
The Instructional Coach will play a pivotal role in improving student outcomes by supporting teachers in implementing effective, evidence-based instruction. Using a student-centered coaching model, the Instructional Coach will collaborate with educators to develop strategies, analyze data, and provide professional development aligned with best practices and district-adopted curricula.

Provide student-centered coaching to 9-12 teachers through modeling, co-teaching, observation, and actionable feedback.

Support teachers in implementing high-quality instruction aligned to district curriculum maps, standards, and best practices for learners.

Assist staff in analyzing formative and summative assessment data to identify student needs and inform instruction.

Develop targeted action plans with goals to address learning gaps and monitor student progress.

Support effective use of data platforms, including EES Innovation, to streamline assessment, reporting, and instructional planning.

Spend 75% of the time in coaching cycles.

Collaborate with content leads to maintain alignment with curriculum maps, common formative assessments (CFAs), and instructional frameworks.

Support teachers in analyzing formative and summative assessment data to identify student needs and guide instructional planning.

Develop targeted action plans to address learning gaps and monitor student progress.

Assist teachers in using district-approved data systems, including EES Innovation, for assessment, reporting, and instructional decision-making.

Support teachers in planning rigorous, standards-based lessons using district-adopted curriculu, emphasizing conceptual understanding, procedural skill, and application.

Monitor curriculum fidelity and assist teachers in integrating research-based instructional strategies and high school–appropriate scaffolds.

Partner with district and building administrators to plan, create, and deliver student focused professional development.

Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and school-based Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) centered on instructional best practices, student data, and curriculum implementation.

Stay current on trends, research, and innovations in education and share relevant information with staff.

Participate in district and building-level PLCs focused on continuous improvement in instruction.

Support ECA, tutoring, or enrichment programs focused on student growth.

Collaborate with building administrators and teachers to design and support a daily schedule for instructional supports aligned with SPED and ML services.

Work closely with administrators to include coaching in the School Improvement Plan.

Act as a liaison between district leadership and classroom teachers to ensure consistent implementation of instructional initiatives.

Collaborate with teachers, interventionists, and counselors to develop instructional plans and intervention strategies for students.

Provide resources and strategies to increase student engagement, persistence, and problem-solving.

Participate in student progress monitoring meetings and contribute expertise on interventions and supports.

Ensure instruction aligns with Indiana State Standards, SAT, PSAT, WIDA, ILEARN, and I AM.

Provide resources and strategies that increase student engagement and improve academic outcomest.
Education and Certification
-
Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Valid Indiana teaching license.
Experience
-
Minimum of 3 years of successful secondary classroom teaching experience preferably in literacy, mathematics, or related content areas.

Demonstrated experience leading professional development or student-centered coaching to educators.

Experience using formative and summative data to drive instructional practices.

Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Decatur Middle School Principal and district administration in accordance with MSD of Decatur Township policies and teacher evaluation guidelines.
