The Decision Support Analyst is responsible for providing data-driven insights and analytical support to hospital leadership. This role develops, maintains, and interprets clinical, operational, and financial data to support strategic planning, budgeting, cost accounting, service-line analysis, and performance improvement initiatives across the organization.

Design, build, and maintain routine and ad hoc decision support reports and dashboards for hospital leadership.

Collect, validate, and analyze large datasets from clinical, operational, and financial systems (EHR, ERP, cost accounting, and revenue cycle systems).

Ensure accuracy and integrity of data used in decision-making processes.

Support the development and maintenance of the hospital’s cost accounting system.

Analyze department and service-line productivity, costs, and profitability to identify operational improvement opportunities.

Provide benchmark comparisons using industry data (Vizient, AHA, Kaufman Hall, etc.).

Assist in preparing the hospital’s annual operating and capital budgets.

Provide modeling and data analytics to support budget assumptions and financial forecasts.

Monitor budget-to-actual performance and support variance analyses.

Maintain knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, cost allocation practices, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Recommend process and system improvements to enhance decision support capabilities and data governance.

Assist with annual audit and cost report data collection ensuring accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 2–4 years of experience in healthcare analytics, decision support, or financial planning in a hospital or health system
- Working knowledge of hospital finance, reimbursement, and cost accounting principles
- Advanced skills in Excel and experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and ERP/EHR systems (Oracle, Cerner, Epic, etc.)
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences
