Role Purpose
Lead and grow the Defense Business Unit by shaping strategy, driving business development, managing key government and defense relationships, and ensuring operational and financial performance in alignment with SMI’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Leadership

Develop and execute the BU strategy in alignment with national defense priorities.

Lead strategic planning for defense products and long-term market positioning.

Identify emerging technologies and industry opportunities.

Prepare annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
2. Business Development & Partnerships
-
Drive business development for defense programs, localization initiatives, and strategic alliances.

Lead partnership, licensing, and technology-transfer agreements.
3. Operations & Delivery Excellence
-
Oversee execution of defense projects in compliance with military standards.

Manage production planning, supply chain, and quality assurance.

Improve cost efficiency and operational performance.
4. Financial & Governance

Lead P&L performance and ensure achievement of BU financial targets.

Monitor KPIs, profitability, and forecast accuracy.

Provide performance updates to the CEO and ensure regulatory compliance.
5. Team Development

Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team.

Develop key talent and promote a culture of accountability and excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Defense Studies, or equivalent.

10–15+ years in defense, military manufacturing, or government contracting.

Proven experience in business development, P&L leadership, and major defense projects.

Strong knowledge of military standards and defense manufacturing.

Experience with government stakeholders and defense OEMs.
-
Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
-
Excellent command of English; Arabic preferred.
