Avant Tech is excited to announce a career opportunity for a dedicated and knowledgeable Defense Employment Law Attorney specializing in the Public Sector. This role is designed for an attorney eager to provide expert legal counsel on labor and employment matters pertaining to government entities and public organizations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in employment law with an emphasis on representing public sector clients in various legal aspects, including litigation, compliance, and advisory roles.
Responsibilities::- Provide legal guidance on employment law matters affecting public sector clients, including policies and procedures.
- Manage a diverse caseload, including litigation related to employment disputes, discrimination claims, harassment, and wrongful termination.
- Represent clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, severance agreements, and settlement agreements.
- Conduct training for staff on employment law compliance and best practices.
- Stay current with changes in employment law and regulatory requirements that affect public sector employers.
- Advise clients on disciplinary actions, grievances, and workplace investigations.
Requirements:- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution
- 8+ years of experience in employment law and litigation experience, preferably with a focus on public sector defense. 80% Litigation
- Active membership in the State Bar and in good standing
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws/regulations
- Demonstrated experience in litigation and representing clients in administrative and court proceedings
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
- Proven civil trial experience preferred (1st or 2nd chair roles).
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
