Job Summary

The DEIB Coordinator supports the Director of Diversity, Equity,

Inclusion and Belonging and leadership of the Department of People & Culture in advancing equitable workforce development across the City. With a strong focus on Learning and Development, this role helps design and deliver impactful training opportunities while strengthening career pathways through strategic partnerships with community-based organizations and K–12 and higher education institutions. Working collaboratively across departments within the Department of People and Culture, the role works to ensure access to meaningful professional growth, skill-building, and advancement opportunities that support both individual success & organizational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

The DEIB PROGRAM COORDINATOR will:

1. Serve as the primary point of contact for both internal and external constituencies, including supporting onboarding on new hires.

2. Coordinate with the Director of DEIB and Deputy Chief People & Culture Officer to cultivate relationships with community organizations and leaders.

3. Serve as a member of internal working groups and initiatives as identified by Dept. Director.

4. Coordinate across the various programs, including implementing DEIB training sessions, and manage logistics and communications related to City-sponsored learning programs.

5. Work closely with other departments within People and Culture to support in the delivering of trainings and workshops related to DEIB.

6. Assist the DEIB Director and Grants Manager in identifying and applying for potential funding opportunities for programs and services.

7. Collaborate with the HR Performance Analyst in the Employee Experience Dept to evaluate and report training effectiveness using participant feedback, attendance data, and learning outcomes.

8. Work closely with other departments within People and Culture to support in the management of the established DPC Employee Curriculum and in the delivering of trainings and workshops.

9. Identify and cultivate relationships with community organizations (i.e. DEI Collaboratives, Ambassador group) with appropriate departments and divisions in the City in order to address community needs effectively and efficiently.

10. Supervise and mentor departmental interns, fostering a productive and inclusive work environment.

11. Represent the department at community events, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and fostering connections with local organizations and residents.

12. Support in the creation of opportunities such as cohort programs, certificate pathways, tuition partnerships, internships, and pipeline programs that align with City workforce needs.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Experience working with or building partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, or workforce development entities.

3. Strong facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

4. Flexibility to attend programming outside regular business hours (e.g. cultural events, community-led events).

5. Comfortable familiarity with diverse cultures, communities, and identities.

6. Able to form and sustain collaborative relationships and to work independently with minimal instruction.

7. Demonstrated commitment to social justice, human rights, and principles of Equity, Inclusivity, Access & Opportunity.

8. Able to take on shifting assignments that may require reprioritization of duties.

9. At least three (3) years of professional experience in a fast-paced office setting is ideal, however, lived experience will be considered alongside professional work experience.

10. Advanced experience using Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).

11. Experience with adult learning theory, instructional design or learning and development within a multi-generational workforce preferred.

12. The ability to speak one or more language(s) other than English is a strong asset, though not a requirement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,019.00 - $64,216.00 per year
