Summary
Responsible for transporting goods from BMS / Emaco Warehouse or assigned origination point to another using company owned or leased trucks.
Essential Job Functions and Accountability:
- Deliver goods while operating a truck, sometimes over intercity routes or states.
- Load and unload cargo.
- Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
- Drive long distances.
- Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows.
- Report to a supervisor any incidents encountered on the road.
- Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws.
- Inspect their truck before and after the trip, and record any defects they find.
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Report immediately any mechanical problems to supervisor.
- Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
- Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking.
- Get goods to client on time.
- Take rest periods during trip.
- Take special precautions while driving.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ warehouse experience including shipping, receiving, inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Very good understanding of mathematical concepts
- Good oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Valid Class A or B CDL required
- MUST be able to work night and weekend schedule on a regular basis.
