A Delivery Dispatcher plays a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing the timely and efficient delivery of goods and services. They work in close collaboration with drivers, customers, and various internal teams to ensure that deliveries are accurately scheduled, properly routed, and promptly delivered.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Managing truck drivers’ schedules and routes
- Oversees the coordination and routing of shipments.
- Scheduling freight to be picked up and delivered.
- Providing shipping details to customers
- Reviewing logs of truck drivers
- Documenting all calls, deliveries, routes and times for pickups and deliveries
- Completing paperwork related to shipments, such as invoices.
- Directs dispatching and routing activities and tracks transportation vehicles.
- Ensures that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved.
- Ensures on-time freight delivery.
- Adhere to all federal DOT safety regulations.
- Ability to utilize various transportation technologies, such as Transportation Management Systems; GPS; and Electronic Logging.
- Solid computer skills with high level of competence in the use of Microsoft Excel to track progress toward established goals for the trucking operations and generate reports that are concise, easily understood, and communicated to appropriate levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively interact with customers and/or drivers and with key management personnel within our assigned region.
- Understand the impact of transportation on customer service and work to improve delivery performance to meet or exceed the customer expectations.
- Responsible for all in/out freight for the company
- Directs all maintenance, repair, and replacement of shipping equipment or vehicles.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods.
- Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to, employee safety, and freight classifications.
- Ensures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, environmental policies, and government regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain inbound freight schedule and calendar to coordinate with vendors in a timely manner.
- Schedule all inbound freight for prospective locations and communicate with team.
- Handle all scheduling of hotels and per diems for delivery drivers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and MS functions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a related field required.
- Required three (3) years of experience of Federal DOT guidelines (CFR49).
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
