Delivery Driver

SUMMARY

The Delivery Driver / Warehouse Associate is responsible for moving material within the plant to support production as well as picking and preparing shipments for customers via parcel or common carrier. This position will deliver orders to local customers in a timely and professional manner in our straight truck. Other duties include receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; printing delivery paperwork; working in production areas during slow times; maintaining a clean work area; transferring material within the computer system to maintain 100% inventory accuracy.

The delivery route will cover areas as far north as Santa Barbara and as far south as San Diego, with frequent stops throughout Los Angeles County and the surrounding counties.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of:

• Trucks and basic mechanical functions of a vehicle
• Surrounding area roadways and conditions
• FlashCo products and how to handle such products to ensure proper and safe delivery

Skills:

• Inspect vehicle regularly and monitoring gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a vehicle is working properly.
• Performing routine maintenance on vehicle and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Ability to:

• Understand and follow oral and written instruction
• Deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels, including customers
• Work as a team member and support role
• Communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing so others will understand
• Organize, prioritize, and manage time when planning daily route

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Hold a valid driver’s license with clean record
• Certified forklift operator preferred
• Truck driving experience preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide excellent customer service and act as the face of FlashCo
• Abide by all driving laws
• Safety awareness of machinery, vehicle, packaging, and surroundings at all times
• Complete weekly vehicle checklist to ensure vehicle is in proper operating condition
• Responsible for vehicle maintenance and reporting issues
• Determine routes based on desired arrival times set by inside sales
• Arranging daily deliveries, LTL’s and parcels
• Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
• Record shipment data, such as weight, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
• Send receiving documents to purchasing, and communicate any discrepancies.
• Prepare documents, such as shipping orders to route materials, and delivery paperwork.
• Confer or correspond with Purchaser, and Branch Manager with problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
• Quality Control; verify product, counts, and sizes.
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
• Maintain inventory levels on resale items.
• Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
• Deliver or route materials in warehouse using forklift or hand truck
• Run weekly Open Delivery Reports in SAP, and schedule shipments for will-call orders.
• Assist shop team with product knowledge
• Work with other Flashco Branches regarding transfers/orders and freight
• Support productions material handling needs
• Be flexible to switch between driving, warehouse, and production needs rapidly

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Much of the work consists of sitting in a vehicle for an extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk; use finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds with regularity. Use of arms above the shoulder is sometimes required. The employee occasionally may need to transport himself or herself to another office location in mild to inclement weather. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The position will be working in our plant as well as in a vehicle setting, but also requires the employee to be in the outdoors on a regular basis, thus encountering varying weather conditions and temperatures.
• Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
