Delivery Driver/Laborer

Working Hours

This is a full time position. You must be able to work at least one weekend day unless prior arrangements are approved.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· None.

Responsibilities

· Report to department heads, team lead or foreman for task assignments.

· Responsible for checking delivery board throughout the day and making deliveries of products in a timely manner in accordance with Greengate delivery policies.

- Call the customer before loading the product into the truck.

- Confirm correct address from customer and approximate time Greengate will arrive.

- Obtain from customer where the product will be unloaded.

- Inform customer that Greengate trucks are not allowed off of driveways or allowed to drive into or through yards to reach an offload site.

- As stated above Driver has discretion on whether or not to drive through grass or mud to complete a delivery. Driver understands that if they get the vehicle stuck they will be terminated of employment.

- Load and secure products safely to truck and/or trailer utilizing straps, covers, etc. before leaving Greengate property.

- Obey all traffic signs and speed limits.

- Check receipts for correct items and proper cost of said items. Make sure delivery prices are correct on the receipt.

· Listen to radio for customer load-ups and carry-outs, responding, and performing these load-ups and carry-outs.

· Provide assistance to fellow laborers, customers and landscapers with loading and unloading products and general laborer work around the nursery.

· Assist showing customers where the plants or materials are located. If unsure of questions posed, please call a salesperson.

· Plants, fertilizes, weeds, prunes, repots, waters, and mulches plants, shrubs, and trees in the nursery using hand and gardening tools.

· Move, lift, and organize merchandise throughout the garden center such as plants, mulch, planters, and outdoor furniture. Cleans beds and trash on property grounds.

· Maintaining outdoor plant material and areas, such as watering, weeding, cleaning, stocking.

· Conduct inspections of machinery and equipment as needed and report problems to supervisor.

· Operate four-wheeler, skid loader, tractor, and forklift.

· Work inside and outside, rain or shine.

· Handle the loading and unloading of incoming or outgoing shipments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Current CLASS D Driver’s license or above required for operation of Greengate vehicles.

· Greengate Insurance must approve driver before hiring.

· Proven ability to quickly learn and understand standard operation procedures.

· Superior verbal communication skills. Patient and well-mannered when working with customers and co-workers.

· Proven ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks at any given moment.

· Prolonged periods of walking, standing, lifting, and moving items.

· Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. Larger items will have to be team lifted.

· Must be able to push, pull, bend, lift, stretch, and climb in order to care for plants and materials, and arrange them within the nursery.

· Experience working well with co-workers of various backgrounds.

· Work with co-workers to identify product solutions.

· Skid Loader, forklift, and tractor certifications a plus.
