POSITION SUMMARY
Dental Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the dental staff and excellent patient-centered service to dental patients while managing the dental department operational workflow.

Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings and community events.

Work cohesively with team members.

Greet and determine the needs of callers, visitors or patients, answering questions based on knowledge of center and/or policies and procedures.

Communicates with all patients in a professional manner.

Enter new and/or updated information for dental patients.

Contact patients who have not completed dental work their treatment plans.

Schedule appointments for dental patients. Enter required patient information, new and/or updated, into computer. Cancels or reschedules appointments as required using computerized patient appointment system.

Provide appointment services to walk-in and work-in patients.

Refer patients to Front Desk Staff and/or Patient Financial Services Representative regarding financial assistance for patients unable to pay for services or medications.

Provides needed administrative support; including reports for board meetings and assists dental director as requested.

Oversee proper use radiation badges for all dental team members, per OSHA regulations.

Coordinate and track referral of patients who need to see dental specialists or obtain medical clearances from primary care or specialist physicians.

Participates in Clinic sponsored functions (i.e. health fairs).

Oversee necessary sterilization records per La. State Board of Dentistry protocol.

Maintains the integrity of medical records system and confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the organization.

Knows all codes and communicates codes effectively over the intercom system.

Works professionally as a team member in conjunction with the dental staff responsible for policies, other department employees and center.

Operates within the guidelines established by departmental a Center policies and procedures.

Employee demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to proper chain of command.

Participates in CQI activities

Keeps appropriate individuals aware of issues, changes to and/or pertinent problems. Advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring follow-up attention.

Suggests practical solutions in response to changing regulations and customer, department needs.

Additional responsibilities as requested by supervisor.

- High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional education relating to the dental field is preferred.

Hands-on computer operations experience in a dental work environment.

Current CPR certification is required.

Minimum of two years of experience working in a dental office.
