Dental A/R specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Billing Associate to join our Pediatric Dental team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing dental insurance claims, ensuring accurate billing, and maintaining precise medical records. This role requires a strong understanding of dental coding systems, medical terminology, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to facilitate efficient billing processes and maximize reimbursement. The Dental Billing Associate plays a crucial part in supporting the financial health of the practice while providing excellent service to patients and insurance providers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit dental insurance claims using DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
  • Review patient records for accuracy and completeness to ensure proper billing and coding practices.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, coding updates, and billing regulations.
  • Collaborate with dental staff to verify patient information and treatment details for billing accuracy.
  • Utilize EMR/EHR systems to document procedures, diagnoses, and billing information efficiently.
  • Manage medical records related to billing activities, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in resolving billing discrepancies and respond to inquiries from insurance companies or patients regarding claims.
  • Support the transition to new billing software or updates in coding guidelines as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical billing within a dental or healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for dental or medical record management.
  • Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim submission procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to interpret complex medical records and translate them into correct billing codes.
  • Knowledge of medical office operations and familiarity with healthcare compliance standards.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with insurance providers, patients, and team members. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the efficiency of our dental practice while utilizing your expertise in medical billing and coding.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
