Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring a sterile and organized environment.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
- Take dental X-rays, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort while maintaining safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing dental materials efficiently during procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency with Dentrix preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and orthodontics.
- Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanner operation for comprehensive diagnostics.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety at all times.
- Skilled in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices to maximize efficiency during treatments.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records privacy and security.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members such as dental receptionists and hygienists.
