Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments using aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality medical imaging for accurate diagnosis.
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to schedule appointments, document treatments, and manage patient information efficiently.
- Measure vital signs like blood pressure and pulse to monitor patient health before procedures.
- Support front desk duties as a dental receptionist by greeting patients, verifying insurance information, and managing appointment scheduling with professionalism.
- Assist with advanced technology including 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow and reduce procedure times.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and understanding dental terminology.
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate documentation and record keeping.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation processes related to dental care.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry and pediatric dentistry practices.
- Ability to operate dental technology including 3D scanners and other medical imaging devices effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, fostering trust and comfort throughout their visit.
