Dental Assistant – Pediatric Dentistry

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist during a variety of procedures. This position requires strong knowledge of dental practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience in pediatric dentistry is preferred, as our practice focuses on providing compassionate care for children.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during examinations and dental procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Prepare, sterilize, and organize instruments and equipment following infection control protocols.
• Take and process dental X-rays in compliance with radiation safety standards.
• Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and treatment notes accurately.
• Maintain and update patient records using dental software systems such as Epic.
• Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
• Schedule appointments and help manage patient flow efficiently.
• Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role preferred.
• Certification or experience in coronal polishing, sealants, radiation safety, and nitrous oxide monitoring required.
• Experience or familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
• Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and understanding of medical imaging techniques.
• Knowledge of dental and pediatric medical terminology.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, parents, and team members.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
