Dental Assistant

Ohio Sleep Treatment is a Columbus based dental sleep medicine practice looking for a dental assistant passionate about the growing field of dental sleep medicine.

At Ohio Sleep Treatment, our Dental Sleep Medicine Assistants are responsible for facilitating a next level, end to end health care experience for fellow Central Ohioans. You will enjoy positive daily interaction with patients, demonstrating a strong knowledge of dental sleep medicine practices. Daily interactions with patients include initial consultations and evaluations, capturing digital impressions, aiding in device delivery, the titration process and follow-up care.

No experience in dental sleep medicine? That’s okay! You will have access to training and continuing education in- line with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) along with practical guidance from two experienced Diplomates of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). As our practice continues to grow, this position may require some travel (20%) during the week, returning home the same day. In the unlikely instance overnight stay is required, hotel accommodations and an evening meal will be provided at the cost of the company.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated excellence in taking digital impressions with an intraoral scanner for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea
  • Strong understanding of sleep disorders and treatment modalities
  • Strong experience in a patient-care setting
  • Motivational interviewing and active listening
  • Case presentation and acceptance for treatment
  • Computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Key Responsibilities included but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times
  • Connect with patients in a meaningful way during appointments and communication
  • Assist Dentist in all phases of care and during appointments, in-person, over the phone, or via telehealth
  • Set up and breakdown of exam rooms, sterilization of exam rooms, and equipment in accordance with industry standards (OSHA)
  • Schedule consults, device deliveries, and follow-up appointments when needed
  • Develop and maintain expertise using required equipment; intraoral scanner, autoclave, etc.
  • Troubleshoot intraoral scanner, work with company representatives to solve issues on the spot when necessary
  • Manage lab submissions with Oral Appliance manufacturer through connected portals and maintain relationships with key personnel
  • Liaison for patients between dentist and referring physician office
  • Coach patients throughout therapy using active listening as they complete the treatment process, connecting with them in a meaningful way
