Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including cleanings, restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict infection control standards.
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology accurately, managing medical documentation, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient care.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient flow seamlessly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, along with familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety standards; experience with medical coding is a plus.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience assisting with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly using dental terminology; experience as a dental receptionist is beneficial.
- Certification or training in dental assisting, including chairside assisting and vital signs monitoring; familiarity with endodontics, prosthodontics, and medical terminology enhances your candidacy.
