Dental Assistant

Job Summary
Scranton Primary Health Care Center is seeking a full time Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Individuals with 2+ years experience in a similar role are preferred. X-Ray Certification is required. Bilingual is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
• Maintain strict infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Room patients, take vitals, and document patient history
• Take digital dental X-Rays
• Utilize dental software such as Dentrix for patient management, scheduling, and record keeping.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
• Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Support front office operations as a dental receptionist when required, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
• Monitory Inventory levels of supplies, and advise when replenishment is necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with infection control protocols and practices in a dental setting.
• Strong communication skills with an emphasis on patient interaction and education.
• A valid certification in Dental Assisting is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
• X-Ray Certification is required
• Previous experience in general dentistry is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.98 - $22.25 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
