Dental Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent patient care skills, and proficiency with various dental software systems. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging procedures when necessary for comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow within the clinic.
  • Assist with dental documentation and coding related to dental procedures for accurate billing and record-keeping.
  • Stay informed about advancements in dental technology such as 3D scanners and digital imaging tools to enhance diagnostic capabilities.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging, and the operation of 3D scanners is highly desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry settings.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with privacy standards during all aspects of patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a team environment practicing four-handed dentistry to optimize workflow.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation processes.
