Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnoses while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Assist dentist as needed for various procedures as related to general dentistry.
- Manage electronic medical records via Dentrix to document patient information, treatment plans, and medical history accurately
- Support dental reception activities by scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and managing insurance claims using medical coding standards
- Monitor vital signs and assist with chairside assisting to ensure patient comfort throughout procedures
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure the dental clinic adheres to all OSHA standards for safety and cleanliness
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics
- Certification in X-ray techniques and experience with 3D scanners preferred for advanced imaging procedures
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes necessary for maintaining a safe clinical environment
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental treatments including prosthodontics and endodontics
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or in patient interaction roles are highly valued
- Commitment to ongoing learning about HIPAA compliance, medical coding, pediatric dentistry practices, and emerging dental technologies
