Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and safety standards.
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to enhance understanding and comfort.
  • Support administrative duties including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist with advanced imaging procedures such as 3D scanning and medical imaging when necessary for comprehensive treatment planning.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and terminology.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, with familiarity in managing medical records and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and sterilization procedures.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting with expertise in four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Experience with X-ray techniques, vital signs measurement, medical coding, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, specialists like prosthodontists or endodontists, and patients of all ages. Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
