Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures.
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Support patient comfort by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and assisting with anesthesia as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to document treatments accurately and efficiently.
Skills
- Proficiency with software systems such as Open dental, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient information.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document procedures.
- Experience with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and infection control practices.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools confidently.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively assist in treating young patients with patience and care.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with the dental team as a dental receptionist when necessary and explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages. Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour
