Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic technique.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document treatment details accurately and efficiently.
- Obtain vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and compliance.
- Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, handling medical waste properly, and following established protocols for aseptic technique.
- Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation within Epic or similar systems.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Experience working with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control procedures and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices to effectively assist with young patients’ needs.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and interact professionally with patients of all ages.
