Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with expertise in supporting dental procedures, patient care, and clinic operations. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining high standards of infection control, and delivering exceptional patient experiences. Your proficiency with dental technology and clinical procedures will contribute significantly to the success of our practice.

Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
  • Perform chairside assisting with aseptic technique to ensure infection control and patient safety at all times.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health prior to procedures.
  • Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and providing pre-visit instructions.
  • Support the dental team with medical coding and billing processes related to dental procedures while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment within the clinic.
  • Collaborate with the team on general dentistry cases as well as specialized areas such as pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics.

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside support and radiography (X-ray) procedures.
  • Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics.
  • Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice environments.
  • Ability to operate dental technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging devices efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations for safeguarding patient information and medical documentation standards.
