Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety. Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, documenting treatment details accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology, medical documentation, and assisting with procedures such as vital signs measurement and medical coding. Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic productivity. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment while adhering to infection control standards and anatomy knowledge to assist with complex procedures.
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatrics, or specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics. Familiarity with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is essential for providing efficient patient care. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft along with medical documentation tools like Epic enhances workflow efficiency. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control procedures, and anatomy is crucial for accurate communication and procedure support. Experience with X-ray technology, including digital imaging and 3D scanners, is highly valued to ensure precise diagnostics. Understanding of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of patient records while managing sensitive medical information effectively. Additional skills in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics are a plus for supporting young patients comfortably through their treatments.
