Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies for various dental procedures.
  • Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, suctioning, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse; assess patient needs prior to procedures.
  • Manage patient records accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Maintain sterilization protocols for dental instruments and equipment to uphold safety standards.
  • Document medical and dental histories thoroughly, including medical terminology and coding for insurance purposes.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed.
  • Stay current with dental terminology, EMR systems, and medical documentation practices to provide top-tier assistance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a dental office environment; familiarity with dental clinic operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding processes.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental
  • Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement accurately.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality.
  • Experience supporting various specialties like pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, or general dentistry is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
