Duties

  • Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols.
  • Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while maintaining proper aseptic technique.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding.
  • Support front desk operations by performing dental receptionist duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and updating medical records.
  • Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary, especially in pediatric or medically complex cases, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout visits.
  • Maintain infection control standards by adhering to OSHA guidelines, sterilizing instruments, and practicing proper anatomy knowledge for safe clinical procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and dental assisting techniques is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Eaglesoft is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
  • Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools confidently.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and collaborate with the dental team.
  • Certification or training in radiography (X-ray) is preferred; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatrics are advantageous.
