Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is ready for patient procedures.
- Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing tools and managing patient comfort.
- Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse; assess patient needs before procedures to ensure safety and preparedness.
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document medical history, treatment notes, and medical coding accurately.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote ongoing dental health.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical documentation with care.
- Support front desk operations by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records seamlessly.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and dental assisting procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records effectively.
- Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement and basic medical documentation.
- Strong understanding of general dentistry practices along with specialized areas like prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and dental office protocols.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients, team members, and healthcare providers.
