Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic. The Dental Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our practice, including chairside assisting, managing patient records, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols. ( Requires License/ Certificate )
  • Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in EMR systems.
  • Manage dental records, including medical documentation and coding, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks such as making impressions or preparing materials for prosthodontics and endodontics procedures.
  • Utilize dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling appointments and managing patient information.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and aseptic techniques throughout the clinic.
  • Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure efficient patient flow and communication.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry.
  • Proficiency in using EMR systems; familiarity with Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is a plus.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices is essential.
  • Experience with medical imaging techniques and 3D scanners is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and documentation processes.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients of all ages, including children in pediatric settings.
