Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic. The Dental Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our practice, including chairside assisting, managing patient records, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols. ( Requires License/ Certificate )
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in EMR systems.
- Manage dental records, including medical documentation and coding, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as making impressions or preparing materials for prosthodontics and endodontics procedures.
- Utilize dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling appointments and managing patient information.
- Maintain infection control protocols and aseptic techniques throughout the clinic.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure efficient patient flow and communication.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems; familiarity with Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices is essential.
- Experience with medical imaging techniques and 3D scanners is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and documentation processes.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients of all ages, including children in pediatric settings.
