Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient care
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including cleanings, restorations, crowns, root canals, and prosthodontic treatments
- Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates to support patient assessment
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices using clear dental terminology
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing dental office communication as a dental receptionist
- Support pediatric dentistry and endodontic procedures with enthusiasm and professionalism
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting or dental clinic experience preferred; certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document patient information efficiently
- Ability to assess patient needs through patient assessment techniques and vital signs measurement
- Excellent organizational skills to manage medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Knowledge of general dentistry procedures along with specialized areas like prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable
- Exceptional communication skills to interact confidently with patients, team members, and other healthcare professionals
