Job Summary

Duties

• Assist dentists during general dentistry procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
• Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
• Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient privacy.
• Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
• Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques, following infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination.
• Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care instructions, and oral hygiene practices to promote long-term oral health.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry.
• Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for accurate medical documentation and records management.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures and aseptic technique to ensure a safe clinical environment.
• Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children in a compassionate manner.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology related to general dentistry.
• Excellent communication skills suitable for collaborating with the clinical team and educating patients effectively.
• Ability to perform vital signs assessments accurately and support medical documentation requirements for comprehensive patient care.
