Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and ensure all dental equipment is ready for procedures.
  • Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring all medical documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and adhere to infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient flow.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and diagnoses.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following proper aseptic techniques.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
  • Experience with chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical imaging techniques, and medical documentation standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in four-handed dentistry setups alongside dentists for optimal patient care.
  • Certification in X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or infection control are a plus. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
