Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will assist the dentist in providing high-quality patient care, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the office. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and treatment plans using dental software such as Epic.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and perform basic dental receptionist duties as needed.
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures with a caring approach towards young patients.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry standards.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy and procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques, including chairside assistance.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices related to dentistry.
- Experience with infection control measures and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Competence in using dental software systems, particularly Denticon, for record management.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus but not required.
