Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and sterilization standards are met using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Assist dentists during various procedures by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing patient comfort.
- Take and record vital signs and perform patient assessments to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage medical records and documentation accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental procedures, and oral hygiene practices using clear dental terminology.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and updating patient information in dental office software.
- Support pediatric dentistry and other specialty areas by providing compassionate care tailored to different age groups and needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental office setting; familiarity with dental clinic operations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
- Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR systems.
- Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement and medical documentation accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures and instructions clearly to patients of all ages.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Certification in Dental Assisting (preferred) or relevant training from accredited programs.
- Experience supporting general dentistry procedures along with pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, or other specialties is a plus.
