Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared efficiently. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining an aseptic environment in accordance with infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners, ensuring accuracy while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical coding, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards for confidentiality. Provide chairside assistance by managing dental terminology, assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques, and monitoring vital signs to ensure patient safety throughout procedures. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document treatment details accurately and efficiently. Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic productivity.

Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control practices, and aseptic technique. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Experience with EMR systems such as Epic or Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and the unique needs of pediatric patients. Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely while maintaining compliance with radiation safety standards. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team. Knowledge of medical imaging tools like 3D scanners and proficiency in using dental software for treatment planning.
