Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures.
  • Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
  • Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems on Dentrix, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding.
  • Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist in assessing patient health before procedures to ensure safety.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with the dental reception team to enhance patient experience.

Skills

  • Proficiency with EMR systems including Dentrix for accurate record keeping.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Experience with dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
  • Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with skills in medical imaging and X-ray procedures.
  • Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.
  • Competence in using advanced dental technology including 3D scanners for precise diagnostics.
