- Hello, I am looking for an experienced Lead Dental Assistant for my small private 3-op start up practice in Worcester, MA. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will support myself and hygienists during procedures, manage patient comfort, and ensure the smooth operation of our dental practice. Responsibilities
- Assist dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, etc
- Set up compliance systems for OSHA, HIPAA, sterilization, inventory, ordering, maintenance of dental equipment, etc
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and other medical imaging, ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Open Dental while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and confidentiality.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical history updates.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document treatments and assist with billing processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Lead Dental Assistant within a busy dental clinic environment; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in dental software systems including Open Dental experience with medical records management is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to support accurate documentation and communication.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines; experience with 3D scanners is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages.
- Certification in radiography or dental assisting from an accredited program; CPR certification is preferred.
