Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are followed.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are maintained.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, accurately documenting treatment details and medical histories.
- Provide chairside assistance by managing dental terminology, vital signs, and medical documentation throughout procedures.
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, oral hygiene practices, and answer questions related to dental terminology or procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are properly sterilized and functioning.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of medical records and compliance with privacy standards.
- Experience operating dental imaging equipment like X-ray machines and 3D scanners is advantageous.
- Understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is critical for success in this role.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields is a plus; however, on-the-job training will be provided for motivated candidates eager to expand their skills in pediatrics, endodontics, prosthodontics, or other specialties.
