Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures
  • Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside support
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines, adhering to infection control protocols
  • Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality
  • Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health
  • Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment following aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure safety for patients and staff

Skills

  • Proficiency with dental software systems including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for scheduling, documentation, and medical coding
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
  • Experience with medical documentation and records management within a dental setting
  • Skilled in taking accurate X-rays and operating medical imaging tools such as 3D scanners
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures while maintaining aseptic technique
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics and their families
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and sterilization procedures to uphold the highest safety standards
