Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to aseptic techniques.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners, ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic to document patient information, treatment plans, and medical history accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform chairside assisting by providing support during procedures, managing patient comfort, and explaining treatment steps clearly.
  • Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient health status before and after treatments to ensure safety.
  • Maintain infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing medical documentation, and practicing proper aseptic techniques in line with industry standards.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance details, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques combined with strong knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
  • Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient record keeping.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely and effectively; experience with 3D scanners is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices including sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles to provide compassionate care to young patients.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with dentists, hygienists, receptionists, and patients in a busy clinical environment. Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
