Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient chairside support.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary dental materials in accordance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients to ensure safety during procedures, especially for pediatric patients.
- Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and guiding patients through their visit.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, following infection control guidelines and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical records management and data entry within Epic or similar systems.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and applying aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records efficiently.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Experience with infection control procedures and maintaining sterile environments in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment like X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, ensuring they feel comfortable throughout their visit.
